Weigh In

Nate : 233.8 ( 5.6 lbs )
JoAnn : 149.8 ( 4.6 lbs)

We were both excited when we got home from Michigan and found that we had both lost weight through an 8 day vacation (3 of which was on a "car diet"). We are setting our goals to accomplish another great week of good eating and exercise.

Buy Low Market

I am going to run to Buy Low Market next Wednesday. That is their day for sales on produce. If anyone wants anything click HERE, then click on weekly specials, then click on the green rectangle that says "download". It will pull up the ads for the week. Above the download button it will have a date, and next week it will say 03/10/10 (make sure you are not looking at the sales for this week). Some highlights this week were:

Avacados 4 for $1
Romaine 3 for $1
*Asparagus $.99 / lb.
*Eggplant 2 for $1

*Asparagus and eggplant were in an article I read today about the 3 vegetables you must eat. Any recipes for eggplant???

Let me know if anyone wants anything!

Chew On This!

By counting 25-40 bites before swallowing almonds it releases more heart-healthy fats and vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin that can help prevent disease and muscle loss.

Rest

We all know we need to eat right and exercise to lose weight and be healthy. Here is an article I found that helped me see that sleep is right up there too! Simply stated, our body produces two hormones that are important for us to understand when we are trying to lose weight and be healthy, ghrelin and leptin. Ghrelin tells us we need to eat, and leptin tells us we are full. Lack of sleep causes the body to produce more ghrelin, and less leptin. See the problem? Also, if you are tired it is hard to find motivation to work out, and work outs become less productive because you are tired and it is hard to stay focused.

Not to come second in order of valid resources, President Brigham Young taught: “Then let us seek to extend the present life to the uttermost, by observing every law of health, and by properly balancing labor, study, rest, and recreation, and thus prepare for a better life."

Let's all get some rest! Keep up the good work!

Weigh In*

*Nate told me I was not allowed to postpone my weigh in. I figured since it is the end result that mattered I would not worry about it. However, according to him, I am not allowed to do it again.

JoAnn: 153 lbs (1.4 lbs)
Nate: 139 lbs (.4 lbs)

I talked with Alissa this morning, and she made a point that really hit me. She feels more in control, and when she said it I realized that I did too. With so many things around us that we cannot control, it feels really good to have something that we can.

Keep up the good work everyone!
